Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026.
This policy covers the Moodstone app for Android and iPhone and this website.
In short
Your journal stays on your phone: no account, no server, no ads, and no tracking of what you do in the app. The only thing that leaves the app is about the Moodstone Plus subscription, described below. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
What is stored, and where
- Your entries (date, time, mood, activities, note), your custom moods and activities, and your settings are stored in a database on your phone only.
- The daily reminder is a notification scheduled on your phone. It doesn't go through any server.
Moodstone Plus subscription
Payment is handled by Google (Google Play) or Apple (App Store): Moodstone never sees your card or your account details. Their own privacy policies apply to the payment.
To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription management service that acts as our service provider. When the app opens, it sends RevenueCat:
- a random, anonymous ID created by the app (not your name, email or advertising ID);
- your purchase history for Moodstone Plus, as reported by the store (product, dates, trial and renewal status);
- technical information needed to answer the request: platform and system version, app version, language, currency and store country. Like any internet request, it also reveals your IP address.
We use this information to give you access to Moodstone Plus and to see aggregate subscription statistics (for example, how many trials turn into subscriptions). It is not used for advertising, it is not used to track you across apps or websites, and it is never sold. RevenueCat never receives the content of your journal: no moods, activities or notes.
Exports and backups
When you export your journal, the app creates a file (JSON or CSV) and opens your phone's share sheet. You choose where it goes: Files, a cloud drive, an email. That file is subject to the rules of the service you choose. Moodstone never receives a copy.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app erases its journal from your phone. Files you exported stay where you saved them. To delete your subscription record at RevenueCat (the anonymous ID and its purchase history), write to the contact address below and we will delete it. Your purchase records at Google or Apple are kept by them under their own policies.
Your rights (including California residents)
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Because your journal never leaves your phone, the only information we can access is the subscription information described above. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Children
Moodstone doesn't ask for a name, age or email, and isn't directed at children under 13.
